Its history is closely connected to Peter the Great, establishing and strengthening of the Russian Navy, outstanding discoveries and invents of Russian scientists and the glory events of the Great Patriotic War. There are more then 300 historical, cultural and technical monuments in Kronstadt. The unique hydro technical and defensive structures, marvelous buildings and architectural ensembles such as the Kronshlot fort, the complex of province houses of the beginning of the XVIII century, the Navy Cathedral, docks of Peter the Great and other monuments and places of interest attract attention of numerous tourists. The historical part of Kronstadt town and the Kronstadt fortress is on the list of World Heritage of UNESCO.
